Iranian Haiku Part III: Home and City

1

Morning twilight.
The silence of the alley,
the rustle of a broom.

2

An open window.
A flowered curtain
around a bare branch.

3

Not a cloud.
The scent of rain
through the crack beneath the door.

4

Autumn colors.
A rain of leaves
across the wet courtyard.

5

Muddy ground.
A paper boat,
a child's gaze.

6

Sunset.
The cypress shadow
beyond the wall.

7

An empty bus stop.
The last bus,
unceasing rain.

8

In the courtyard pool
half the moon
beneath a pomegranate leaf.

9

Night storm.
The porch lamp
stayed awake.
