What do you seek
from my elusive dream
when each night
you steal the calm
of my fragile sleep
a restless gaze
waiting, yearning
for a familiar face
?across the dim horizon’s edge
What do you seek
from my unsettled sky
in the clamor where even
a rain of stars fades
against the heavy silence of the mountains
and the proud sorrow of clouds
?burns the corner of an eye
What do you seek
from my scattered verses
when every dawn
the damp seeds of words
unfold on the misted face of a mirror
stealing the quiet whiteness of the page
?in a storm of longing
And from the beloved hidden deep in my soul
?what do you seek
There, where language tires
of plain confessions
and bares the heart
in naked lines
