The voiceless hymn of spring
Under the weight of passing days
Breaks again—
Into tears,
Falls again—
Into tears
The earth breathes sorrow
Beneath the shadowed veil of night
Wrapped in quiet grief,
Lost from sight
So that sadness
May once more
Spread its color across the sky
And the city—
Still and hollow—
Forgets its lullaby
In the slow belief of time
It could not understand
That your footsteps
Were a farewell
Soft as slipping sand
So no memory
Would ache again
From the echo of goodbye
And now—
Even spring itself
Without you, my dear,
Has begun to cry
Without you, my dear—
Even spring
Has begun to cry
Again…
It falls
Into tears.
